Cornwall Hospice Care is the new name for the county’s only hospice service and was created following the formal merger of Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St. Austell and St. Julia’s Hospice in Hayle in April 2006.
Our new name was chosen to reflect the range of services we provide and are developing throughout the whole community of Cornwall – within the hospices, in the county’s hospitals and within the home. Hospice care is very much a philosophy of care – it is about HOW we care for patients and their families, rather than WHERE the care is delivered.

Our Aims The aim of Cornwall Hospice Care is to provide the highest quality care to alleviate pain and distressing symptoms for people with life-threatening illness, and to offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to them, their family and their carers.
Our Values We respect the life of each person as a unique and valued individual.
We support patients, their family and carers in an atmosphere of genuine warmth, which is positive, but not falsely optimistic.
We aim to be an inspirational leader in promoting excellence in Specialist Palliative Care both by our own staff and other health care colleagues.
