Medical Staff and Nurses
We have highly qualified doctors and nurses, as well as our own Palliative Care Consultant. Excellent standards of nursing are ensured by a professional team which has the time to devote to the needs of each patient.
Patient and Family Support Team
The team is available to give advice and information on a range of non-medical issues, including benefits and housing matters.
Therapy Team
The therapy staff (Physiotherapist and Occupational therapist) will assess each patient's individual needs. They can help with breathing and mobility problems and provide aids and equipment to assist daily living. In some cases patients may require a home visit when a discharge is planned.
Lymphoedema Nurse
The Lymphoedema Nurse offers out-patient appointments within both units and sees in-patients during their stay at the hospice.
Chaplain
The Chaplaincy team is available to meet with patients and their family if they so wish. Visits to the hospice by home clergy from all faiths are most welcome and our Chapels are always open for quiet contemplation and prayer. | |
This is an experienced team who are on hand to offer emotional support to patients, their family and carers.
Complementary Therapist
Massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, etc. can help to reduce stress and tension, therefore aiding patient relaxation.
Day Unit
Cornwall Hospice Care provides a Day Unit for patients who can be referred from diagnosis, or at any stage of their illness by their Consultant, G.P., Macmillan Nurse or District Nurse. Patients receive assessment and referral to the appropriate professional along with practical and spiritual support.
Treatments such as blood transfusions and intravenous medications, are provided in the comfort of the separate day unit at Mount Edgcumbe and private rooms at St. Julia's.
These clinics are run by a small team of nurses with volunteer support, but patients are also able to access other members of the multi-disciplinary team during their appointment.
