We have a team of volunteers who are essential to the work of the hospices. The selfless contribution they make to the organisation is vital to the quality and diversity of service we are able to offer to our patients, relatives and close friends.
As with all other hospice staff, volunteers undergo a selection process before they join the team. This includes the completion of an application form, Criminal Records Bureau disclosure form, attendance at an interview and a reference check. They are then required to serve a probationary period where they shadow an experienced volunteer until they have gained confidence in their chosen role and are familiar with the hospice layout and procedures.
